Thank you [26.06.2005]

It was wonderful to meet you and hear your outstanding music. You are truly amazing. I too was a part of the mass choir. You made everyone feel very special. The entire week-end will never be forgotten. John and I will also always remember your visit to our home - pizza, beer and munchies with Rajaton . What a lifetime experience. But most of all everyone will remember that each one of you is a caring unique individual who loves music and shows that love to all who meet them. You are outstanding role-models for our human race.Keep spreading your good news to all throughout the world. You will continue to touch the lives of all you meet or all who hear you. THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES!!!!!

Lunta kappale [24.06.2005]

Mistähän saisin kyseisen kappaleen? Katsoin Download.Netanttilasta, mutta en sitä sieltä löytänyt...

You guys are truly amazing! [24.06.2005]

Hi, I sang in Woodstock when you guys came to the Festival. Man oh man you guys are truly amazing, I'm still talking about you guys to everyone and it's been like two weeks since the Festival. I'm just amazed at how you guys perform and everything. The sounds you made with your voices was the most amazing thing I have ever heard. I was so sad when you guys left, but you truly left each and everyone of us at that festival amazed with your talents. You guys have probably inspired so many people, thank you so much for singing with us. I love you guys so much!

Kaunis levy [23.06.2005]

Hei loistavat rajattomat!
Levyllänne on ihana, intensiivinen tunnelma. Olen kuunnellut sitä uudestaan ja uudestaan. Ja itkenyt vuolaasti tiettyjen kappaleiden kohdalla, koska ne juuri nyt koskettavat niin suuresti. Kauniimpaa-kappaleessa Virpi laulaa lumoavasti. Äänessä on upeaa hämyä. Kiitos!

Ahvenanmaa kiittää! [21.06.2005]

Vihdoinkin - tätä hetkeä olen odottanut epätoivoisena jo pitkään: saada kiittää teitä konsertista täällä merten keskellä. Siis suuri kiitos vierailustanne Finströmin kirkossa!

Sunnuntainen konserttinne oli elämys isolla E:llä - sanat eivät riitä kertomaan niitä tunteita, joita herätitte sisälläni. Jopa muusikkomieheni, joka on aika vaikeasti "liikutettavissa", kyynelehti ensimmäisistä tahdeista lähtien. Upeaa!

Iina
Thanks Again [21.06.2005]

Thank you so much for including St. John's in your travels again this year. Your concert was spectacular as usual. We have seen you each time you have come since 1997 and eagerly anticipate your next visit. Wonderful music! Wonderful experience!

Wow! [21.06.2005]

I just heard Rajaton at a festival a few weeks ago and was completely amazed with the talent, energy, and intensity that the members of the group showed off. It was an extremely hot and humid evening in an old, beautiful church that had no A/C, but whenever Rajaton began to sing, every makeshift fan in the building stopped moving as the entire audience sat in awe. Thanks for an amazing night!

Olen aivan haltioissani tästä Kevät - levystänne. Tuosta teidän uuden levynne "poppihaukkumisesta" en oikein ymmärtänyt, koska tämä on aivan teidän tyylistänne musiikkia. Kävin kaikki levynne ostamassa ja kiitos paljon musiikistanne. Kaunista on!

What a Weekend!! [16.06.2005]

What a memorable weekend in Woodstock Ontario at Kaleid Choral Festival. I had never heard of Rajaton before, but NOW I will never ever forget you and our musical time together. You guys are amazing, awesome, so talented, so approachable and down to earth or, should I say heavenly. You raised us all to a spiritual realm in the concerts and the workshop we shared last weekend. It was very hard to leave that 'mountain top' experience. We look forward to your return.

An Experience to Remember [16.06.2005]

London, Ontario: Last night, we, Percy and Sue O'Driscoll, had supper with our close friends Jennifer Moir and Vicky King. - we are members of Woodstock Fanshawe Singers. All we did was talk about the "Woodstock weekend", and listen to Rajaton CD's. It was a wonderful experience to join you in the workshop in the afternoon and to sing with you in the concert that evening.

Many thanks for being so "down-to-earth". We truly feel that you let us into your lives.

We very much hope our paths will cross again.

An amazing concert this evening [16.06.2005]

Exactly as good as we expected and more! All our favourites and a great introduction to the new album. We're always glad to have you here, and the new CD will tide us over until next time.

Photos I took this evening (without flash, most of them, so rather dark) are posted here:

Another Triumph in St. John's [16.06.2005]

Thank you again Rajaton! You are so exciting! We have loved your music since we first heard you in 2001! Your new material is great and we look forward to getting your latest CD. We love the Finnish music best! And the range of styles from the "Where you There" piece to the "Bjork" piece, is so thrilling. Yet we can always hear those special "Rajaton" harmonies. Please keep coming back to St. John's.

A pleasure and an honour [14.06.2005]

Thank you, thank you, thank you for coming to Woodstock and being a part of Kaleid. Words like "awesome", and "amazing" don't even begin to come close to describing what it was like having you there.

Your musicianship is truly amazing. I know that every member of the mass choir was changed in some way by your interaction with them, and by the beauty of your singing. It was a pleasure working with you, an even greater pleasure listening to you, and an immense honour having you premiere one of my works. Thank you so much, and please come back soon.

[13.06.2005]

The soul of Rajaton left a big hole that cannot be filled. Some people come and go…leaving no trace behind…..like a finger in a glass of water…you remove your finger from the water, and no trace remains. But with Rajaton, they left a memory in our community… that cannot be filled. We will sorely miss Hannu, Soila, Jessi, Ahti, Verpi and Essi. The Boundless CD is the shadow of their being. Only when they return will that space in life truly be filled. My spirit soared with their farewell song…tears flowed freely.
Until our paths cross next time.....

Thank you for sharing your gifts with us in Woodstock! [13.06.2005]

I can not find the words to adequately express the joy which you brought to my soul on your recent participation in the Kaleid Festival in Woodstock. You made our hearts sing as you shared the beauty of your music, your passion for singing, and your reverence for the magnificence of the human voice. You truly made two hundred new friends as you shared your enthusiasm and love for music in your workshop.

Speaking personally, I have lived nearly 70 years on this beautiful earth, but the gift you gave to me this weekend has been the most profound and deeply moving musical experience of my life. I am not a very experienced singer, so I had no idea of the scope, the range, the beauty and the potential of the human voice until you shared with us your voices and your love of singing. I was absolutely astonished at the way in which your superbly blended voices were able to reach deep into the core of my very being. I left the Kaleid festival with a heightened sense of elation and euphoria and yet with a certain peace and serenity that somehow, for a brief moment in time, we had joined together in community, bonded by our music and our friendship.

So to Essi, Hannu, Virpi, Ahti, Soila and Jussi. I thank you for making the world a brighter place with your music and your enthusiasm for it. And thank you for choosing to bless our small community with your presence.

Liisa
by the way... [10.06.2005]

My three favorite songs:
Go Soila! - Mita kaikatat kivonen?
Dobbin's Flowery Vale, Essi, you will have me crying "Hiyah-hai!" for days on end...
&
Armottoman osa - what a wild and dark song!
Ahti, what a rich voice you have...

A truly appreciative fan... [10.06.2005]

How incredible it is to see how people the world over are united in their love for the music you 6 create. My name is Stewart and I REALLY missed the boat when you toured Canada, I joined Kokopelli just a couple weeks after you came to Edmonton, and couldn't attend your concert as I had a university final exam at the exact same time. I've made up for it by subsequently purchasing all of your albums!

I love singing such challenging and intricate music as well as tackling both Jussi's phenomenal lower register through to Hannu's lofty cries. Most important to me is the fact that each of you takes a turn as lead soloist, offering not only a diversity in repertoire but in each of your spectacular voices (I definitely have a soft spot for Virpi's ethereal and beautiful willowly tone).

I appreciate the work on the album notes and very eloquent English translations, but I actually prefer singing along in Finnish. Finnish is truly a beautiful and melodius language; I love the deep vowels and have perfected rolling my r's to be able to enunciate your exquisitely poetic lyrics. Speaking of lyrics, what a treat it is to encounter a group who works so hard at writing truly meaningly lyrics that tell a story. Too often a cappella groups have somewhat ridiculous lyrics that detract from an otherwise harmonious experience.

You are also blessed with such wonderful people working with you! Mia Makaroff, you are a brilliant talent, your arrangements are my favorite!!! Also your sound crew! For future projects, one of my favorite songs is the well known Finnish lullaby "Taivas on Sinenen", which is perhaps so well known in Finland it would be hard to make original, but if anyone can do it, you guys can.

As you can see from the many signatories, you have inspired an entire generation of young choristers here in Canada, and we can only DESPERATELY hope we Canucks are treated to more of your spectacular talent many times again in the future.
Safe travels and much love from Canada!

Stewart Mawdsley, Fort Smith, Northwest Territories/Edmonton Alberta
