News28.04.2009: Rajaton tours Australia in MayThis May, yet another two new countries will see their first ever Rajaton concerts, namely Norway and Australia. Our long-awaited Norwegian debut takes place in Hamar, at the AnJazz festival on May 3rd. Towards the end of the month we'll tour Australia for two weeks. Australians are, if possible, even crazier about ABBA than Swedes, so it's no surprise that it was ABBA concerts that we were originally booked to do in Australia. Of course we wanted to seize the opportunity and also give some a cappella concerts while we're there, and eventually the tour consists of three different parts: Our first destination is the capital city of Australia, Canberra, and there the Canberra International Music Festival. We'll give three a cappella concerts during the festival, the first two of which are amplified and the third unamplified. On the days between the concerts we will for instance give workshops to the music students of the local university. Then it's time for the ABBA section of the tour: one concert in Hobart and two in Adelaide together with the local symphony orchestras. All three concerts are conducted by a gentleman called Brett Kelly who is a brand new acquaintance for us; looking forward to meeting him! Finally we'll head for the Pacific coast and Brisbane, Queensland, where we'll give as many as three combined concerts together with our Australian a cappella colleagues, The Idea of North. Based in Sydney, TION is Australia's premier contemporary a cappella group and, judging from the keen demand for the concert tickets, they seem to be very popular in Brisbane as well. We first got to know this bunch of wonderful people through The Real Group and have since shared the stage with them both in Finland and in Korea, so we're extremely happy at this chance to appear before their "home crowd" in Australia as well.
