22.08.2009: VanDusen and sushi!

VanDusen and sushi!

And so met the happy holidayers at the reshaped Helsinki-Vantaa airport and took off for Pacific Canada.

Our traditional August "world tour" shrinked to a return ticket to Vancouver as the Japanese festival was cancelled. Fortunately Vancouver always has a lot to offer: stunningly beautiful mountains in the horizon, Stanley Park, an insane number of sushi restaurants, excellent opportunities to renew one's garderobe, and the marvellous VanDusen garden for a concert venue!

We had a day off in Vancouver both before and after the concert day, which meant rehearsals for us because there's a busy autumn season ahead of us and lots of new music to learn. At the moment the most urgent matter is the Best of concerts with the Lahti Symphony that are our very next concerts after Vancouver. Once again our hotel room neighbours had something to listen to, as we were singing our lungs out with one Top40 hit after another...

We were really lucky with the weather on the day of the outdoor concert; there was a beautiful sunshine all the way until the sunset. Maybe it was partly thanks to the weather that we were able to see up to 2000 smiling faces from the stage, oh yeah! This was already the second time that we performed in this beautiful garden and, by the way, the fifth year in a row that we visited Vancouver and the fourth time to be part of the MusicFest Vancouver! Unbelievable! We're absolutely taken by the affection and enthusiasm that Vancouverites have shown towards us. I wonder if they'll invite us again next year...? ;-)

It was a great kick-off for our autumn!

Let us still enjoy the light and warmth of the sun,

encourages Virpi
